...tbh, I don't need dudes like j cole, talib kweli, nitty scott, ne-yo, royce da 5'9" or q-tip contribute vocals to a gang starr album, but at least primo consulted the og gang starr foundation members (although some of them are borderline wack) ... "bad name" sounds nice, like vintage gang starr ... could be a decent album: tracklist: 1. The Sure Shot (Intro) 2. Lights Out feat. M.O.P. 3. Bad Name 4. Hit Man feat. Q-Tip 5. What’s Real feat. Group Home & Royce Da 5'9" 6. Keith Casim Elam (Interlude) 7. From A Distance feat. Jeru The Damaja 8. Family and Loyalty feat. J. Cole 9. Get Together feat. Ne-Yo & Nitty Scott 10. NYGz/GS 183rd (Interlude) 11. So Many Rappers 12. Business Or Art feat. Talib Kweli 13. Bring It Back Here 14. One Of The Best Yet (Big Shug Interlude) 15. Take Flight (Militia Pt. 4) feat. Big Shug & Freddie Foxxx 16. Bless The Mic let's pray, the "kolexxxion" sequel is next in line...

GEEZ GUYS NITTY SCOTT IS PRETTY DOPE, I OWN ONE OF HER CD'S. NE-YO'S ONE OF THE BEST SINGERS IN THE WORLD, IS IT THAT BAD THAT AN R&B SINGER IS ON THE ALBUM? LOL

^shes ok but such a random guest when he could have got doper people and/or more relevant to gangstarr. first 4 gangstarr albums had no singing! royalty with jodeci off moment of truth is ruined by the hard crooning. such an unnecessary thing to have a singer on a gangstarr album.
my expectations are higher after hearing "bad name" although its only one verse from gifted unlimited.

i'm treating this just like i did the big picture when i copped it the first day it dropped when i was on vacation in toronto in 9th grade. i'm trusting that premier and whoever made the decisions on what goes on this album will be quality just like they did for big l after his passing.
first off, every once in a while a little singing on a track is not a bad thing. it's like "holding it down" by big l produced by pete rock featuring a.g. and MISS JONES. what did you want no mask, party arty to sing the hook? lol he prob would've crooned it pretty dope but still you get what i'm saying i hope. i listen to some r&b i especially love the old soul. i haven't checked as many albums lately but i always check ne-yo's. imo he's up there with the old greats man and if you don't think guru would've been glad to work with him you're trippin'. he's worked with so many talented singers and different artists outside of the Hip Hop world thru his years. shoot if it wasn't for him i wouldn't know any jazz artists
rip guru & big l & p80

i listen to lots of music with singing. many forms/genres. but i like my rap raw and hard. YES there are some great rap tracks with singing. depends how its done but most with singing are ruined by the singing. however i usually dig when its a rapper doing his own singing hook imperfectly like biz or monch and few others.

nothing wrong with jodeci or good r&b etc. i used to bump some back in the day and i still like some maxwell and dangelo, adriana evans,Amel Larrieux, sade etc. just like my rap without singing usually.

Not for me. It was a proper revision to The Love Movement being their final album.

Very commercial album... Dope? yes, but it depends on what kind of dope you want, it is more mainstream...and only a few tracks for the underground / hardcore community So this album is definitely not for me...Especially that my favorite Guru album is Hard To Earn...I like the rugged s**t and the old preemo

T R A S H
horrible mixmaster - some beats don't even sound like DJ Premier. The Foundation is rusty and Royce drops the best verse. (NEVER AGAIN USE AY SAMPLES!!!) EFF TALIB KWELI RACIST (eat a d**k Kwahli)
GIVE US NYGZ

black moon stayed true- no singing, no polished sounds, hard drums, real beats, no weak features. unlike the gang starr.
