Got the album in the mail a couple days ago so I've been able to give it some spins.
Thoughts:
-The soundscape Bronze created is fantastic. Between the interludes, funky horn entrenched beats, and samples he really made something special here. He's one of the best producers in recent times, IMO.
-Crooked doesn't sound fully comfortable over the production, to be honest. Sometimes he just sounds too soft or uninspired. When he spits hard and with conviction...that's when he's at his best. Unfortunately those moments are too far and few here.
-The album is painfully short. It's probably more like an EP. Only 7 original tracks, 4 interludes, and 3 "bonus tracks". The bonus tracks have either been on other projects or are remixes of existing songs. It seems kind of lazy to do it this way to be honest. The marketing for the album was somewhat deceiving in that we were getting this grand album with tons of guests....when in fact some of the guests are either on old tracks, the interludes, or have really small parts in the new tracks.
-French Connection and Change Ur Beliefs are the best tracks. When Bronze gets to rhyme too (which is not as often as I would like), he shows he's just as good as anyone out there. Such a dope MC.
All in all, I'm digging it, but not as much as I wanted to. It has some shortcomings that are tough to ignore. I think Bronze's production just isn't the right fit for Crooked.

I agree with your review. There wasn't a song on the album that I added to my current playlist with the exception of Track 3 (Ras Kass verse outshines KXNG). Track 3 "Slaves" made me think of track 13 "Listen" off of "Think Differently"...guess that's just Bronze style/snare coming through.
"When he spits hard and with conviction" - This makes me think of "WTFIGOH" He doesn't need a beat to kill it on that track with conviction.

this reminded me of the ghost files from last year that bronze ended up remixing which i somehow loved (only the bronze version, not the agallah, never heard the big ghost version)
but yeah ep worth of material with the same boatload of guests. and i just don't like crooked as much as gfk so might not rush to peep this now.
bronze should do an album w la the darkman. or a solo. his rhymes are just as good as any

Yeah, Bronze and Darkman would be a ridiculous album. He goes perfectly over Bronze's production. He actually had the best verse on this record with his spot on "French Connection". That track is nasty and Darkman sounds so good on it.
I was just expecting more from this is all.
