...as extected, it's a dope release ... dunno if it's as good as "hiding places" but it's definitely on par with "known unknowns" ... preservation, messiah musik, small pro and blockhead did the majority of the beats ... when I first looked at the features, I was kinda sceptic about 3 fielded contributions but it works - this one has a beautiful portishead vibe:
...and this one's got an ill beat change:
...another dope track:

This leaked same day as Danny brown and l'orange. Tippi is definitely staying in all weekend masturbating.

album is ridiculous, "nut-worthy" for sure. i don't know if it's better than hiding places yet but i'm not really worried about it, this is horizontal progression at the very least. dudes discography is so consistent that i can't help but wonder when he's finally gonna slip up lol.
i'm a sucker for the beat changes/transitions when done well and the album has that in spades. it's all pretty seamless here, compared to something like today i wrote nothing where the tracks were intentionally disconnected from each other. that album feels more like a collection of short stories vs terror management which woods himself described as fragmented in the way that a broken mirror would be, and i definitely got that vibe after listening to it. i forget where i heard this but apparently woods had the producers work with each other on the transitions to make sure each track flowed into the next as much as possible which is dope. writing is as strong as ever, so much to unpack but a ton of quotables and standout moments after only the first couple listens. agree with what maxxx was saying too with the portishead comparison on shepherds tone, fielded in general kinda reminds me of beth gibbons. looks like woods is going to have two albums in my top 5 this year.

Production is a bit all over the place but there are more tracks I mess with than usual on this project. He falls into the category of Cannibal Ox and Aesop for me where I appreciate and respect their talent but almost never want to go back to their music.
