Correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm curious was Cam'ron really popular in his heyday? like 00-04. Did he fall off 06-2012? Cause like I barely hear his name come up in the rap game today. But he made some really iconic tracks, like his personality is definitely one of a kind. Like songs like he tried to play me is like, nobody but Cam'Ron can make something as funny as that, yet it still sounds good. Pic Related his 06 album is so good

seems people are starting to give him his flowers now cuz of his show and cool idea to rap on said show.. his prime was def 2001-2004 truly short lived legendary run. he always had the bars after that era but the beat choices slipped up big time. before that era he was good but not great imo (ie. his banned from tv verse).

He was incredible even back when he was in children of the corn. Legend. One of my favorite rappers ever

purple haze been back in heavy rotation. (i only play the real soulful sample songs where cam does the really goofy flows though) i could narrow it down to a ten song classic and add purple haze song and 1st of the month and a few others from the dipset 2xcd and make it a classic
the dipset 2xcd was a huge release to me in 2003. obsessed was an understatement. i loved partying to that album and on the rap side studied the s**t out of it in hopes to one day make some soulful, fun, fly ish like most of teh stuff they did.

I've always liked Cam'ron for some reason but have never liked his music. Most of it flat out sucks, cheesy 2000s bs. That children of the corn track is dope though

Cam’s cool and all and he’s hysterical on his show with Mase, but top 10 outta NYC?
MAYBE top 50.
I could never get through an entire album of his or anything by Dipset.

Completely in his own lane. Cause no one is making song's like oh boy, Dipset Anthem, he tried to play me, or Get'em daddy. Gotta give Cam'ron his props for originality.

It’s guess it’s fair to say Cam was on Fab and Jadakiss’ level, although I feel Jada is by far the nicer emcee. That was proven live on Verzus.
Cam had everybody’s little bro walking around wearing pink or purple outfits and rocking giant goofy matching NY fitteds.
Cam’s best moments were either on mixtapes or live on Hot 97.
Dipset took certain styles from the south and brought that to Harlem.
None of it felt authentic and the music aged terribly.
That’s why they got their sht rocked so bad by the LOX.

I always preferred Big L and Herb McGruff.
Camron had a lot of corny bars and I hated most of Dipset’s beats.

The beats sounded thin and those played out, sped up soul samples just kept coming. They got by on swag, not quality music.

Hmmm. TO each their own but
Prodigy Jay Nas KGR Biggie Big L Big Pun Guru GFK AZ
etc... Cam is worthy of top 50 , but 5? Hard one to debate.

If we doing our top 5 out of NYC then this my take 1. Wu-Tang Clan (Whole Group cause plenty of members are all stars) 2. KRS-One (Godfather of Hip-Hop) 3. Sean Price (Jesus Piece Superstar is a favorite of mine) 4. Big L (Absolute Hardcore Shaolin Master on da mic) 5. Necro (Most Brutal MC on the mic no doubt.) Honorable Mention: Notorious B.I.G (Hip-Hop Mount Rushmore)
