I tell no lie when I say Atmosphere was the first band I fell in love with as a young hip hop enthusiast. I bought the CD of "Lucy Ford: The Atmosphere EPs" and played it on my discman while I studied all the maths and physics to become an engineer.
What do you guys think? and what are your favourite Atmosphere songs / albums?

Come on son, this motherf**ker was killing it back here:
I flew to Melbourne to see him live and got some photos with him, but he was so high on some s**t that i didn't post the photo his eyes were popped out of his head.
One of my female friends went home and hooked up with him. Don't know why that bothered me at the time, it didn't really.

GP. I put my girl onto Atmosphere last year and she got pretty into them so got the chance to revisit everything and have it in rotation. i posted "the waitress" and "the painter" recently and AEOKQ mentioned "yesterday" which is nice and definitely one of his best tracks.

Yo Ern that 1597 is such a killer opening track.
The way Spawn's verse just fades out like it could go on forever.

A group I respect a lot but hardly listen to. Ant's production style strays away from the raw gritty sound I typically go for. It is dope and unique though, whenever I want to switch it up I'll give a listen.
Lucy Ford is the one album I would pick, I enjoy that one. So many albums I haven't heard, incredible longevity. I would imagine Atmosphere is one of the most successful independent hip hop groups ever, huge fan base.

I first saw Atmosphere in 2000 or 2001 at a show with Eydea & Abilities and instantly recognized the talent and connection they made with the audience. Eydea obviously shined skill wise but Slug held his own. I'll always remember even though I could never find it anywhere since but he did a song about "Slug's Not the Man" that was supposed to be a live exclusive or something like that. Always on the lookout for it whenever I grabbed some rare Atmosphere release back then but never heard it again on any CD or show.

I don’t get it. Somebody put me on please.
Sounds like corny nerd rap by white middle aged dads.
What am I missing?

What am I missing? you have a good ear and always make good points, if you gave them a real chance and listened and weren't feeling it there's not much I can say. there's an album's worth of songs in here that I think are good. and i can't break down music beautifully like some of you guys lol. ant's a very good producer. much of slug's content is about women, relationships, sex, drugs, alcohol, family, work, being on the road, on some introspective s**t or telling a story... i find a lot of it relatable. good music that the females will also enjoy. to me none of that is corny or nerdy. i dont think his voice is nerdy sounding either.. but even then, wasn't aesop rock integrated tech solutions kind of a corny nerd rap album by a white middle aged dad? i thought it was a dope album anyways. got to switch up from gangsta s**t once in a while
