I've been torn about this but recently confirmed to myself that Mount Westmore is the definition untouchable. Take off your underground high and mighty critic hat (that we all tend to have at times) and hear me out. At the surface of first impressions, this can be considered the most sell out, has been, embarrassment project any of the members ever put their mark on. But give it at least three real listens all the way through and I challenge you to tell me this isn't still among the epitome of underground hiphop. There is definitely some BS in there but if you really listen to the lyrics on some tracks, it is all about the "I don't give a sh!t what you think and we're doing what we want" tip. Cube and 40water especially drop some classic lines that solidify their legacies and that's coming from someone who hasn't always been big on 40. Tell me I'm wrong.

It is pretty funny that after over 30 years, these guys can still do this better than at least most of the garbage that's on the radio with no mainstream promotion. Now, I'm not saying this is phenomenal, groundbreaking material but if you set aside your (our) snobby underground elitist attitude and just give this album a few listens for the fun of it, I'm saying you might get a kick out of some of it.

How high or drunk were you when you made this post?
Glad you had a cool experience listening to it.
My issue with it is everyone of these guys made classic gangsta sht. But now they’re literally grandparents and multi millionaires with hit TV shows, movies, endorsements etc.
I can’t take the music serious when they talkin about blastin fools, pimpin hoes and hittin switches.
They been out the game way longer than they been in it now.

Yeah, pretty much my first impression of it, I agree with you buckthadevil. Bottom line is they don't give a f##$ what anyone thinks and are just having fun, which is what made them and many other great artists good to begin with. But I heard some lines that were catchy and decided to give the whole album a few more listens and while there are definitely parts that are cringeworthy, there is actually a lot of stuff that is on par with the classics they have released in the past. They don't need to do any of this but just dropping game cause they feel like it. Can't really beat that in life.

A lot of these older rappers need to study Jay-Z's blueprint. He's not still rapping about being in the streets and selling drugs and basically rapping about the same s**t he was rapping about in the 90s. The s**t he rapped about changed to fit the life he's living now and people are still digging it. You could say that Nas is kind of doing the same thing now with the King's Disease/Magic series. If you're still rapping about the same s**t you was rapping about back in the day, you're either delusional or you f**ked up somewhere along the way and you're still broke and hungry.

Well, you clearly didn't listen since they are not rapping about selling drugs in the streets, lol. Anyways, I clearly see things differently from others here and that's all good.

I don’t know much about 40. Like I said, never been big on that guy but he was entertaining on this. Cube has his own production company and does the movies he wants to. He’s even recently turned down movies worth millions because he wasn’t willing to compromise his beliefs. He’s also currently on a mission to expose the “gatekeepers” in the industry which could land him in life threatening situations. Again, based on his own integrity. You can make fun of him for being a rich millionaire (which is pretty funny for anyone to be made fun of for, especially coming from some people) but he didn’t become that by being a sell out. He did what he wanted from the start and made the entire industry follow the trends he made. Now, they are trying to shut him down because he still won’t play their games.

The beats on Mount Westmore are trash. They sound like they were made by that goofy walrus looking middle eastern kid that did those shtty beats for RBX.
Imma always love Snoop tho.

i never even knew this existed
or imagine what this could possibly sound like
but compared to all the commercial wraps were bombarded with, it might be a breath of fresh air in a nostalgic way
replace 40 with 4tay snoop with kokane cube with tash and short dog with richie rich

^ Why replace them with rappers from the same era who just didn’t put out as good music during that time?
Each of those rappers in your list are great, but none of em have classics that can can stand up to anything from Cube, Snoop, Short and 40.

Regarding the beats, yeah like the title says, a lot of this album can be just tossed aside as wack at first listen, especially if you only check a few tracks. If you give the whole thing a good listen in a quality system, there is a lot of genuine quality and just fun listening there.
I questioned the lineup as well but after hearing it a few times, its hard to argue against it. I'd personally love to hear Kokane over Snoop and could argue for either in terms of artistry but there is no argument over who is the bigger name, which is kinda part of this whole albums concept. Also, the project is one of the first releases in partnership with Snoop running Death Row. If it was those other guys, they'd have to call it Pomona Hills or something like that, lol!
