Good one!
1. Black & Brown - my first intro to Danny Brown and it was a soft landing due to the beats being dope and "normal", he would spit over much weirder stuff thereafter and I liked that too understand it's not for everyone 7/10.
2. Too old for me I can only respect it as being ground breaking at it's time 10/10.
3. I know people love that Hiero I've never loved that crew maybe personal taste 7/10.
4. WTK and Bronze I played this a lot and grew to adore it 9/10.
5. Non-Phixion this album is ridiculous paved the way for aggressive hip hop, dope spitting styles, production flames, guests on point, ahead of its time. There was a couple of tracks I skipped. 8.5/10.
Don't understand a rating of 0 out of 10 that would mean what the music didn't play at all, no sound, or the reviewer is just an a**.

The beats on black and brown were great. Danny was alright. Living daylights was lackluster to me from what I remember outside the track "avalon" and that beat had already been used. The hiero is clasic, the non phixion is classic and im not quite old.enough to appreciate that rakim.

Don't Sweat the Technique - 7.85/10
I enjoyed listening to this album. I occasionally like to revisit "old school" albums, depending on your definition of old school, this album dropped in 1992, which is right around when I first started listening to hip hop. It had been 5+ years since I had spun it. This album doesn't sound too dated, the beats are super jazzy with hard drums. Eric B did a good job, very cool grooves and samples, Relax With Pep is such a dope beat, as is the title track Don't Sweat the Technique. There are some harder songs like Know the Ledge, which was written specifically for the movie Juice. The production is not super complex or varied, which might bring it down some, but it's cool for what it is. Rakim spits heat, he covers a few different topics ranging from war to crime rates in NYC, as well as braggadocious rhymes. He doesn't spit multis, but he has intricate rhyme schemes, and his flow is nonstop energy. I recommend people giving it a spin. In the canon of hip hop it might be a 9+ album, but for my subjective tastes it is a 7.85 which is not bad at all.

Black and Brown - 8.46/10
One of my favorite EPs ever. Very nice combination. Black Milk has many different styles, this is his more traditional boom bap style which I love. He flips the samples on Zap and Dada so damn ill. LOL might be my favorite song, the guitar loop is really dope. The title track ends the album and it is super dramatic with strings and hard-hitting bass. Black Milk raps on it and kills. I think he has a good rapping voice - that reminds me I need to check out his album from earlier this year, you all seemed to like it I recall. I lost my Spotify premium haha I need to renew it. Anyway, Danny Brown is not my favorite rapper, but he has some funny lines. I describe him as being audacious, which is good entertainment. Kind of a harsh voice, but I don't hate it.

Black and Brown got a 6.5 in Pitchfork
“The overwhelming impression is that the EP exists because an assistant stumbled across an "in-progress" folder of mp3s on Black Milk's desktop and leaked the results.”

That Danny Brown x Black Milk is still fresh af. Crazy for you to mention this cuz I just threw it on a couple days ago. Check out that Danny Brown x Tony Yayo album too. There’s a couple of real dope songs on there. 4/5
Sweat The Technique is agt. It wasn’t all that groundbreaking. Rakim broke the ground before that album. 3/5
Hiro is cool. Best parts are when Del raps. 3/5
That WTK x Bronz was real dope. I wasnt really a fan of his when this came out, but going back to it a couple years later after his work with Vdon, I was feeling it a lot more. 3.5/5
Non Phixion album is a classic front to back. Not a single skip and it’s a full course meal as far as hip hop albums go. You gotta digest that sht for months. maybe it’s a product of its times, but I still fuk with it. All star list of producers, fresh emceeing, conspiracies. I didn’t know Sabac was white. Album cover pull out on the CD was flames. ALL THAT uncle Howie sht. It was the start of a dope little movement. 5/5.

Third Eye Vision - 8.6/10
I definitely enjoyed listening to this driving around today. The production is what stands out, very unique beats. Domino handles most of it, but other members contribute as well. There are some hard-hitting joints like The Who and At The Helm (Del rips it) then some other more vibrant songs like Oakland Blackouts. All of those songs are 10/10 to me. The Tajai track uses the same sample at the beginning of Madvillainy, I just noticed that today. I like the rapping, nothing profound, but there are some standout verses. The album falls off a little towards the end, and it isn't super cohesive, but overall a very enjoyable album.
Really love that song, produced by Del. Funny cuz he produced my favorite song on 93 'til Infinity as well (A Name I Call Myself).

GP - throwback to the old boards. Hope you can bless us with this type of thread on a quarterly basis. Gonna sticky it for a little bit (Gino, you good with this being stickied for a couple weeks?).
Man. To be fair, I need to revisit the Eric B & Rakim and Non Phixion. Been some damn years for those 2. And can’t say I’ve peeped the others.

Appreciate it |=|. I like bringing up albums people may not have listened to in a while. Also like reading what people think of them. We all listen to hip hop, obviously, and I appreciate others' opinions. There have been so many albums released in the history of hip hop, it is nice to revist and reminisce. It also gives me an opportunity to go through my CD collection and pick out a handful of albums to listen to. My collection is sort of 90s and 2000s heavy, but I have some more modern music. I'll be getting Spotify soon so I can listen to new stuff. Appreciate you all. Bumping Living Daylights right now, will be back.

Black and Brown - 7.5/10
Good, solid EP just not a fan of Danny Brown to be honest. His voice just kills a lot of the appeal of his music for me. This EP did have some incredible Black Mille beats though like the title track and Dada. I wish it had both of them rapping throughout. Probably would have bumped it up a whole point.
Don’t Sweat the Technique - 8/10
This is a good, solid album, and while it’s the most recent Eric B and Rakim album, liked some of their 80s stuff more. I didn’t start listening to hiphop until around 92 also, so the albums from Rakim kinda passed me by a bit. On this one though, dude was rapping his a** off. Their 4 albums in 5 years showed why Rakim was the best rapper alive at the time. Good album, but I don’t revisit it much.
3rd Eye Vision - 8.5/10
As a Cali head, the Heiro crew always puts out music that kinda speaks to me and speaks to the vibe of the area. This one was no different. Oakland Blackouts is of course the joint, but I personally love The Who. This album was just a crew at hero peak just spitting their asses off and having a good time.
The Living Daylights - 9.5/10
This is an album I listen to a lot. Front to back absolute heat from Bronze and Willie. As a huge Bronze fan, I feel like he really gave Willie the perfect soundscapes on here. f**king Blades, Bless My Food, The Guilt, Delerium. All incredible songs. I feel like the song titles also capture some of the musical vibes perfectly. For example, Breakfast in France sounds luxurious. Just like what I imagine eating breakfast in France would feel like haha. f**king love this record. Listen to it all the time still.
The Future is Now - 9.5/10
I would almost give this a 10 to be honest. I think it’s a classic and personally one of the dopest hiphop albums ever. I remember hearing Black Helicopters on the DirecTV music channel and immediately buying the album that day. Listened to it front to back like 10 times straight. The production is phenomenal and Ill Bill was a revelation as an MC. The conspiracy raps mixed with hard, banging production just spoke to me at the time. I still don’t know how they got Pete Rock, Preem, Large Pro, and JuJu all on here but damn this album just knocks.

Living Daylights- 9.6/10
Weatherman essentially said everything I have to say about this album. As a big Bronze Nazareth fan, these are some of his best beats imo. He pulled the Avalon beat from The Great Migration, and both Willie and Roc sound really dope over it. He also blended some nice vocal samples into the beats, which I love, such as on Ain't Nothing. Sort of a haunting beat, Boldy James sets it off. Good amount of guests, Sha Stimuli spits an insane verse on Delirium (I'm at your door like it's October 31st). f**king Blades is a 10/10 track. Willie does indeed rap about a lot of lavish things, in the same vein as Roc/Action Bronson/Meyhem Lauren, but he has his own style. He shows some depth on The Guilt, a poignant story about a youth caught up in crime. There is one song towards the end, Ice Cold Guiness, that I don't care for much, aside from that the album is flames.

I just talked to Tajai a couple days ago, saw him in Oakland , I know him from the grow store I used to work at he’s been coming in since 06. Said he’s trynna get a community kitchen started . Hiero has normal jobs , saw A Plus doing door dash when me and him were both picking up an order. I think Phesto used to be a mail clerk in City Hall. Del doesn’t need money he’s married to Jerry Garcias daughter

i liked full circle a lot. ima seek out and peep 3rd eye on cd. better late than never... i need the first de la and 3rd album now that they got rereleased, too.
rappers with real jobs are cool. look at me lol. payday. pay bills. already broke again. running a special on features $20 beats or $16 16 bar verses to first five ughh members that tap in lol

^ I never heard Full Circle for some reason. They had an album in 2013 as well called The Kitchen, never heard that either. I'll have to put those on my list. Looks like Opio handled a lot of the production on those. Definitely give 3rd Eye Vision a listen, very dope album.
The Future is Now- 8.97/10
Very good album. I'm not as high on it as most of you. As good as the beats are, there are a few that are uninspiring (It's Us and Suicide Bomb). I don't care much for Say Goodbye to Yesterday either, it is a more somber song about chaos and misery in society, but it isn't really my jam. That being said there are some serious bangers. Album opens up strong with Futurama and stays pretty much consistent up until Rock Stars, which is a pretty damn good beat from Premier. Black Helicopters is such a distinctive sample, Necro kept it minimal on that and it works perfectly. I kind of wish the beat on the DOOM track was better, but it kind of fits his style. The album definitely has a post-apocalyptic feel to it, both production and lyric-wise.
Non Phixion also gets props from me cuz I saw them in concert in Geneva and got to get on stage, chopped it up with Sabac. That was a cool moment. I remember they were all, "who bought that Future is Now album?" and I shouted out, "It's the hottest album of the year," and Ill Bill was all aggressively like, "who said that?!" I raised my hand and he handed me a sticker lol.

HA Sabac is a nice dude. got his autograph on my future is now cd cover at grog shop. have not listened to that album in forever but they def had a dope run starting with that into all the solo albums that followed. sadly, over the years i've kind of lost the desire to listen to a lot of their stuff (sorta like aotp, some jmt), but def deserve all the props they get. new vinnie album looks good, young zee is on it!

The Future is Now - There is No Future, Suicide Bomb, 2 skits, and Strange Universe were skips to me growing up, but the MF DOOM track grew on me years later. The rest is classic, influential s**t I grew up listening to.. allstar production lineup.. 8.5-9/10 Black and Brown - Never got into Danny Brown, but I gave this a relisten. It was alright, Black Milk beats were good. 7/10 3rd Eye Vision - Never cared for Hiero either except for a track here and there.. You Never Knew was dope though 7/10 The Living Daylights - Great album 8.5-9/10 Don't Sweat the Technique - Before my time and probably my least favorite out of their albums but all the albums still hold up pretty decently imo. The title track and Know the Ledge was big, still hear those songs in commercials, movies etc all these years later 7.5

So I know there is another half of the album but I played the instrumentals to the living daylights the other night and they still weren't hittin for me. Aside from "avalon" prolly only 2-3 more joints I dug. Sucks cuz I love bronze and willie over the right beats is insane.

^ That's fair. I'd probably downgrade it to like a 9.3/10 to be honest, I may have been a little high. I still think the production is stellar though. Aint Nothin is a crazy beat and I like how Boldy James sets it off.
I'd probably downgrade The Future is Now to an 8.6/10 and bump 3rd Eye up to 8.7. I was listening to both yesterday and I think 3rd Eye is actually a bit better.

Haha since we get a second bite at the cherry, I have some tweaks to my scores since listening to these again.
Need more of these posts!
1. Black & Brown - no change - good beats Danny is Danny 7/10.
2. Not my favorite Eric B Rakim stuff - 8/10.
3. This Hiero is a great one to put on at a BBQ - 8.5/10.
4. WTK and Bronze - didn't sit so well with me this time round, some of the beats are a bit soft and Willy has just been better. Young Dirty Bastard sucks. That Delirium is out of control love all the verses especially Willy more aggressive style. Blades is f**king great, beat and raps. I like ice cold guinness. Don't like breakfast in france or the blitz maybe one other track at all - 7/10.
p.s. aquamarine may be my favorite WTK album.
5. Non-Phixion this album has aged well. no skips now. like them all even the weirder beats / more somber tunes I moved past previously. 9.5/10. Futurama flies out the gate to start the album so well.

For sure. I can do one every couple of months. I'll post mostly well known albums but might throw in the occasional under the radar joint. Maybe even a couple mediocre albums so we can rate how wack they are haha. Like I was saying most of my CD collection is 93-2012ish so it will be older albums more than likely.
