Was kind of late popping my hip hop concert cherry, my first one was in 2006. It was a sweet show though. Non Phixion at the legendary CBGB venue with Jedi Mind Tricks and Immortal Technique opening and hyping up NP when they were performing. Q Unique Slaine Mr Hyde Sean Price Jeru tha Damaja all did guest appearances and baiscally everyone was just kicking it on the stage together most of the night.

It was so long ago I think I'm forgetting some of the acts...Das Efx, Dres of Blacksheep, Lootpack and Planet Asia - circa 1999.

My first concert was Smoking Grooves like 94-95 I forget.
I don’t remember if it was in NY or NJ. I think it was Jersey.
I was dumb little like 14, and got thrown out for drinking, but I snuck back in I swear to god with the reversible football jersey and fkd my friend’s sister in her car.
It was Tribe, Gangstarr, PE, Cypress, Outkast and a bunch of others.

That line up is legendary and that poster has been shared a bunch but ive never seen someone say they were actually at this show. Was there any thing worth mentioning about DOOM or Eminems set? Did they have people their with them? Did they ever share the stage or mention one another?

Royce rocked with Em. The Outsidaz performed that night. This was the first public performance that I know of where dude had bleached hair but prior to that, I hadn't really seen much of Em outside of a picture in the source (with dark hair). This was the era where the only place I knew of to even hear much of Eminem's music was early undergroundhiphop(dot)com, yet nearly the whole crowd knew every song word for word. That's when I knew this guy was gonna be a big deal.
DOOM was dolo if I recall correctly. I think he may have had that OG mask from the ? video or something else over his face. I also saw DOOM rock at Brownies with Cage either later that year or in 2000. That was a much smaller venue, pretty much rocking at a bar in LES. He was alone that night too. Those early shows I visited were awesome, I saw a lot of great s**t for really cheap. Rolled to a lot of shows with my man Wry and his little brother Despot who had his friends Yak Ballz and Many Styles with us. Crazy how talented those guys are. I miss spots like the Wetlands and Tramps.

I always thought Yak was very talented and definitely underrated. All his early songs are really dope when he had Mondee producing for him.

Wasn’t just hiphop but I went mainly to see Ice Cube. Also performing: Rage Against the Machine, Ministry, soundgarden, Pearl Jam, I think Cypress Hill and a few others were there too.

Bought tickets for Rage last year as i'd never seen them live before so was well pissed when it was cancelled! I haven’t seen them in decades but they definitely used to put on great shows. Best one I saw was in a tiny venue, the killed it and people were going nuts. They were actually part of my first taste of the music scene since Zach went to my school. Was around during the Inside Out days before Rage.

Imagine paying to see a rap show when you can stream it for free and have better sound quality in ya headphones then you’re paying for over priced drinks too? 😃😅😅🤣🤣😂😂😁😄😆🥲

I see there have been some deletions or editing but if you believe it’s better to stream music for free than see a live show, it’s probably a combination of a few things. First, there are a lot of so called MCs who just can’t rock a live show and don’t deserve the title of “MC”. A lot of live shows tend to have s**tty sound engineers so they aren’t doing the sound any justice or the space just isn’t made for it. Again, you probably just haven’t seen artists that can really perform because when you do, there is no way to get the same energy as a live performance from a recording. I’ll agree that well engineered recordings on a nice system or headphones will have a more consistent and clean sound in general but it’s not beating thousands of watts of live sound when that is done well.

Get subwoofers and pro door speakers in ya car if you want to hear Loud music and mc means having skills on the mic it doesn’t make rocking live shows , I guess ICP are real mcs cuz they rock shows ? Not

Yak was kinda all over the place back then, he used to work at Footworkz in the Village.

crazy how u were with i am many and despot! dope story's lex! Despot's brother is a close friend of mine to this day. Many was bugged out. Went through some different phases while I knew him from Raver kid to hardcore Polo head.. That kid was a genius in ways. When he would freestyle people walking by would just stop and form a crowd. He commanded attention.
