pulled this out the collection to make sure this was worth keeping in the collection and quickly realized this is a pretty special mixtape mostly cuz of the beats. it was a pleasant surprise to realize it's not all tony touch beats. in fact idk if he does any of the beats (maybe coproduced a few?). right off the bat you get a banging dj premier beat with toca and d-stroy of the arsonists killing the intro. a few songs later you get two of the best emcee's to ever do it over a psycho les banger
right into a song with busta and roc on the same track for the first time in years then you get a bunch of other cool beatnuts beats
this pf cuttin banger with the goat sean one of his skilled sidekicks (guilt) and more
the only true stinker in the bunch is the self produced eminem song. why doesn't he ever get beatnuts or pf or someone that knows how to make beats for him i will never know???
overall, this mix just feels like their was a lot of focus and intent on representing Hip Hop at its highest level on here and tony and friends knocked it out the park.
we still need a liknuts album btw.
did you buy this album when it dropped?
post your favorite tracks if you did.

thanks man. yeah that koolade beat on the too short track is so good. xzibit with the busdriver uppercut punchline too classic and kurupt did his thing too. great combo of west coast legends. short could still rap circles around cali pups like observe lol
lil fame kills beats too. underrated producer from possibly the best 2 man rap group ever. most are gonna argue mobb deep is better based off the impact of their first 2 albums, but m.o.p.'s run of classic albums went into the new millenium with warriors and eventually foundation, but mobbs run stopped at murda muzik.

we still need a liknuts album btw. This project was definitely slept on. This came out during the era when Goblin Studios (owned by Gob Goblin of the Nogoodus) was really active with legends coming through and a lot of Queens up and comers were starting to get their shine. I'll have to listen again to remember what my favorite song was but I whole heartedly co-sign the need for that Liknuts album to drop. Good post.

On a sidenote, I met Tash at Goblins one night they were throwing a release party for something and he was about the drunkest I've ever seen an individual still standing, lol.. That place was crazy.

lol did you see the vid of the drunk guy at the browns game this year?
the liks are the best, tash is such a legend. cool that j-ro is now sober (they might all be?). i need to do that one day, but i just love drinking beer and listening to Hip Hop. that's my escape from the world and i feel better today and somewhat recharged after hanging out, drinking some beers, and playing some records last night.
the one good thing about my studio equipment not working in the last half year is that i've got to just be a fan again and reconnect with all my favorite artists and albums. i been playing stacks of dope c.d.'s on my drives to and from work everyday and again they have been some of my happiest moments in these last few stressful months.
