1. Where does this album stand in Ace Catalog? 2. Where do you rank it amongst all the other 2004 albums? 3. How well do you think it has held up?
2 things
Wordsworth is a better Rapper than Masta Ace
And this album had the worst Beatnuts verses ever.
Ill comment more but discuss guys.

i was a late starter to ace so disposable and alhs are my favs and the stuff that came later. i like take a look around better than sittin' on chrome and slaughterhouse

Semi off topic but this lyric on acknowledge from disposable arts always annoys me
"See I couldn't even find one n***a that heard of you I did find a few cats that wanted to murder you"
So basically he has found someone that has heard of them. Stop lying
Wordsworth is meh. Ace is much nicer

Stop lying Wordsworth is meh. Ace is much nicer "See I couldn't even find one n***a that heard of you" = from a music / fan base perspective.
I did find a few cats that wanted to murder you" = in general outside of music, he has a lot of enemies.
Ace rhyme scheme is pretty basic when i listen to this and DA. I still enjoy the albums but he has an ABC flow. The beats definitely help contribute this album.

Solid thread, man.
Held up well and flows nicely for a long album IMO. MA does have a basic flow but for me it gets a pass because he uses multi's along with meaningful and concept driven songs. He has a great voice too, a lot of emotion and enunciation when he speaks, even when his voice cracks.
Top 10 for '04 IMO. My fav album from that year is actually Mm food over madvillainy despite the critical praise of the latter. But LHS is up there with Pretty Toney, the masta killa album, grind date, blast radius, etc.
3rd best for his catalog for me. Disposable Arts is his best IMO, second for me is Take A Look Around but because of the Marley Marl beats.

Always thought it was overrated along with Disposable Arts. A few good songs at most.
Funny, I was listening to the Masta Ace/Edo G A&E album yesterday (which is even worse). All the albums from that crew/label have tons of dumb skits that are supposed to be funny and tell a story, but in the end they just detract from the music. Same with the EMC- The Show album.

These are the most boring basic concept albums. Masta ace is solid but def abc flow. He neeeeeds great beats.

Personal classic
playing it now, its been a while. probably overrated it a little bit, second half falls off some, but ends on Revelations which is a great closing track. That Beatnuts track was always an auto skip. It was always my favorite Masta Ace album but I need to go back and revisit his catalog, AHS was just my go to and the one I grew up with the most some of those tracks really stuck with me.
His style was simple but like Bojanski and others the production was mostly on point, hes got the emotion, the voice, concepts and story telling tied in together

Its just that the stories are really generic and thers a bunch of frustrated rapper bars on this. I dunno. I still feel the same as I did before but maybe a little better about it now its just long and boring.

Heard albums from 2004 but I was listening to a lot of Hiero during that time , it was a weak year for albums

Listening again now...I'll report back. Never been a big fan of Ace. He was dope live when he toured with Edo G. Gotta find that video footage.
Damn, looking at 2004, it was super weak. Murs & 9th Wonder was my AOTY for sure.

Frustrated rapper is the perfect description for this album. Rap sucks, record labels suck, other rapper suck, life sucks...we get it. A Long Frustrated Rapper's Summer Everyone is on point, ABC rhymes that only shine with great production. Skits were always deleted on my iTunes but went through them...embarrassing. I did like the Michael Rappaport skit. Ace: "I've been thinking about going back to school or, you know, get a little degree or something." Rappaport: "Nice, nice, I hear you. Take a couple photography classes." boxden.com/smilies/XKvO3m4.png

I love Masta Ace. His wordplay is somewhat simple in terms of rhyme schemes, but his content and story telling has always been relatable and compelling to me and his melodic delivery creates an enjoyable aesthetic. This is actually one of my favorite MA albums. To me, it took what he did with Disposable Arts a step further. Not sure exactly how I rank his catalog (would take a little time for me to really breakdown since I'm a fan) but on a whim, here's my initial thoughts:
Sittin On Chrome A Long Hot Summer Disposable Arts The Falling Season A Breukelen Story SlaughtaHouse Son of Yvonne Take a Look Around
