headphones - improved experience, but you can still sense the lacking mixmaster.

after a bunch of good listens im sayin this is solid and dope but not amazing. like 5 super dope tracks/beats and then a few moderately dope ones and then 2 average ones. dont love the long talking vocal sample intro and THEN the long talking intro at the beginning of the first full track only 2 get a moderately dope beat on "glorious".
also, i'm not really buying this "eastern conference" emcee line up. beats is great but only skyzoo, elzhi and benny really come above average. elzhi murks all of them.

also , those beat interludes at the end of tracks are nowhere near to those on soul survivor, main ingredient etc. where pete would tease fools with a crazy dope beat for like 15 secs.

Personally I loved this album. Definitely in my top 5 of the year so far. I do agree that the mixing could have been better. With a name like "Retropolitan" I get that they were going for a "retro" feel and wanted it mixed like it was made in the early 90s so it had that sound. However, I'd prefer if they just used 90's sounding beats but mixed it well. Not really a big gripe on my part though. I think Skyzoo and Pete Rock paired very well together.
