Watched Motherless Brooklyn yesterday. It was good although way too long. Edward Norton was really dope. I like this review of Star Wars: This overloaded finale, directed by J.J. Abrams, is for everybody and nobody, a movie that’s sometimes reasonably entertaining but that mostly feels reverse-engineered to ensure that the feathers of the Star Wars purists remain unruffled. In its anxiety not to offend, it comes off more like fanfiction than the creation of actual professional filmmakers. A bot would be able to pull off a more surprising movie. And lol at the lesbians kissing scene that had to be removed for some countries. www.theguardian.com/film/2019/dec/24/star-wars-lesbian-kiss-cut-rise-of-skywalker-singapore

Uncut Gems was made for ughh. It's basically how I imagine the lives of some UGHHers to be irl. Gino could be this guy (I say that lovingly).
Great movie, and we are its direct audience.

It's hard to find a movie interesting if we already live it every day.
Ughh not responding to uncut gems is like chaz palminteri in analyze this saying he's not interested in gangster movies. Adam Sandler's name in uncut gems might as well be gino karim.

i just watched uncut gems the other night, one of the best movies to come out last year imo and possibly the greatest performance of adam sandlers career. the score for that movie was perfect too, shout out to oneohtrix point never. 88, have you seen the previous movies the safdie brothers made? i loved uncut gems and good time so i'm wondering if those are worth checking as well.

Tip, there first two movies are great. I haven't seen Josh's solo movie, but it's on YouTube, and I'll get to it.
But Daddy Longlegs is amazing, and heaven knows what is great too. DL stars the guy who co-writes and co-edits all their movies. It's a movie about the Safdie's dad, and how he struggles to balance his chaotic life with having to take on the responsibility of taking care of his two boys. It's real good, imo.
Heaven knows what is about a woman who is a drug addict. It's starring the woman whose life it's based on. Josh saw her one day in a train station, asked her to start writing a diary about her daily life, and then he wrote a script based on that diary. The ending scene is amazing in a lowkey way!
So a comparison of the first two movies to good time and uncut gems. Good time was when they started employing the panick pace that they're now famous for, so the first two movies aren't all chaotic in that way, at least in terms of pacing. There still is a lot of audience yelling "what are you doing!?" at the screen moments. The stories are still focused on the scum bum NY types.
One thing that's better about the first two movies than the latter two are the endings, imo. The endings of Good Time and Uncut Gems aren't bad, but I think they're the weakpoints of those movies, if I had to point one out. The first two movies both have great quiet/poetic endings.
Recommended, especially DL.

Now that these movies are on HBO, Netflix, etc...let's discuss again.
I finally watched Uncut Gems and Joker.
Uncut Gems is by far the best performance I have ever witnessed from Adam Sandler. I can't stand him for the past 15 years or so but that performance was magnificent. And here's a toast to newcomer, Julia Fox. Thick as it gets. KG was solid too for never acting.
Joker was a great film and great acting but this was no where near some of the other Batman movies. In fact, JP is my 3rd favorite Joker. It had it's moments but if there is no sequel (which it's not supposed to), I'm not sure I'll ever watch the movie again. No replay value compared to Uncut Gems.
Any other movie recs on Amazon, Netflix, HBO, Hulu?
Still need to see Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, so behind, lol.
