First leak/video.. all kinds of minimalism on the beat and maximumism on the lyrics.. Works out for a good song with a beat that there would be no reason to listen to alone. Welp, the Vinyl and CDs are sold out at Soul Assassins.. soulassassins.com/Not quite sure how to cop at this Rapcatts link: www.rappcats.com/shop/medallo/

Wet Dirt was nice also I have high hopes for Medallo...Crime seems to be out of his frame on this one, should be interesting!

should be ill.
only possible issues (which wont even be that prevalent)IMO are that some of muggs beats could be too slow and lacking drums and sometimes crime sounds formulaic, like hes in auto pilot with his same predictable rhyme scheme and punch line style every verse and not inspired sounding- sort of going through the motions some times.
BUT, not assuming the worst. should be HEAT!

They recorded this joint in Colombia on tour. CRIMEAPPLE was telling me about a limited release merch bundle that had some unorthodox s**t included (like the Mach umbrella). Not sure if that's still gonna happen or not so I don't wanna put what it is out there as he told me in confidence but it would be really dope to see that happen. I'm assuming what's out now isn't going to be all we see as far as a physical release.

Meh. The half Spanish thing is pretty gay

Meh. The half Spanish thing is pretty gay no different than Mach spitting in Creole. Crime recorded this in Colombia. I'm sure he was speaking more Spanish than English on most days. Nothing wrong with letting that reflect in your music.

Being that I speak Spanish, I love that he does this. This isn’t anything new for him either.. the beats on this are dope also.

The beats and concepts are kind of weak. Not an album with much replay value. Muggs has had some dope beats but doesn't have many on this.

...a couple of very good tracks but not as consistent as "wet dirt" or last year's "aguardiente"

I'm not liking the production on this much. Personally I'm not a fan of drumless Muggs. In my opinion there is a short list of producers that I think can come up with some solid beats without drums. Roc Marciano, Animoss (album with Ka was great!), Superior (album with Eto was great!) & Madlib. Maybe a few others, but Muggs doesn't do it for me. Also I don't want to hear Crimeapple over drumless production as well. His album with Big Ghost Ltd is the best thing he has done imo. That type of production suits him perfectly.

I hate the direction crime is letting his career go in. These producers he's been working with. Muggs, really?
It's exactly results like this that are why I'm so glad droog has been smart enough to avoid listening to fans say he should rhyme on "harder" beats, and stop working with el rtnc.
I'll take MF DOOM's track, rhymes like dimes, over his track, hey, any day of the week.
I predict crime's career is going to end, and fast, if he keeps these beat choices/collaborations up.

Gave a skim thru. Definitely not a project where the beats jump out and pull you in. The lyrics are out front here. Gonna need to absorb it cause I think Crime is dope enough for that but this definitely didn't have the initial punch I hoped it would.

Superb wrelease - his best - cumulation of all the new styles DJ Muggs has. Crime switching flows...different tempi - moods
put my Bratwurst on your tonsils
AND DO NOT SKIM THROUGH SOMETHING AS GOOD AS THIS - Conway feat is the only failure, but in digiage you can fastforward that weakling. luckily!
go listen to the new Nature with BP - crackheademulationbeats stuck in 90something...before on Christ Trag Nate says he needs that fire...LOL

I feel very similar about this album, maybe it has the potential to grow on me...

looks like the issues i suspected might be present are there in abundance. those type of slow, drumless or minimal drum muggs beats just arn't hitting and so many on here. a few just sound unfinished and boring. A few nice harder beats with great samples and actual hard drum beats sound nice. Like lex said above, crimeapple shines on this and came through super correct from the flow to the vocab to the choruses to the lyrics he is ill on this.
beat for "camiasis" just sounds lazy
beat for "just because" is like an audio sleeping aid
"en vivo"- boring, needs something else
'ecetone wash" sounds unfinished and gets annoying
and i could give more examples.
overall the beats are just too abstract (as far as no drums and slow) and veering too far into that sound that is too far removed from the more traditional hard beats most hip hop heads want.
s**t is depressing.

from what i've seen in the first few vids this is awesome. looking forward to the cd in the mail hopefully sometime soon. nothing to compare it to on the crime side as this is the first full length release i'll be hearing from him (i know i know lol). but yeah, the way he flows in the videos. i think im in for a treat. glad i like those type of beats.
glad you guys all still come here fyi
hope yall all doin well!

I figure having a laid back soundscape helps to highlight the rapper, but this is toooo laid back. Needs some life in these beats. The way Muggs is progressing I won't be surprised he just loops subway sounds in future projects.

like 6 or 7 dope a** hard tracks with some cool samples and nice drums. solid project. crime kills a bunch of the tracks.

None of Crimeapple albums, despite being good have any replay value to me.
Usually it's good production (this one is a bit worst than others in my opinion, I don't like the no drums suff so much). He also has a decent flow but for some reason I find it boring after listening to it. Not even the fact that I also speak Spanish makes me feel more attached to his music

Im so glad there's a rapper now that will often just throw spanish words into a bar for no reason. I've always wished for this day to come, and here we finally are. Garcias, amigo.
