Thoughts?
I saw it in the theatre yesterday. B-
Movie needed a new name, a new Silvio, and more Tony and Johnny. Still a good watch.

The Sopranos is literally my favorite piece of cinema of all time. So I had high hopes for Saints.
It fell way short.
The worst most unbelievable part is d**key killing his own father cause he smacked some random broad up. Yea ok....

I thought the backstory of d**kie's father beating his mother up, and the fact d**kie was falling for Giuseppina, was enough to believe d**kie killing his own father. The worst most unbelievable part is Ray Liotta playing twin brothers, wack. Sounds like a sequel will be happening which I'm happy about. Seeing Tony in his 20's would be dope.

I didn't buy it. That's a thick line to cross.
Also Junior having d**key wacked cause he laughed at him for falling on the stairs was also ridiculous. I get they were trying to tie everything up in a 2hour movie, but that felt extremely thin.

All good though...I knew the movie would disappoint a lot of people because the show was so damn good. But overall, the movie is getting some good reviews. Gonna watch it at home this weekend to see if my opinion changes.

Agree with NWS when talking about the movie disappointing me. I went into it with that attitude, so I wasn't really mad at the end, but I enjoyed the movie because it brought the nostalga back for me about the show. One of my all time fav's as well. They could make another movie or two if they wanted to similar to what 50 Cent is doing with Power: Book II & Book III

It's almost like these movies could just be "glimpses" into the past so you could make a few of them. I could see the next movie being about Tony getting older, robbing the card game, etc. Would be dope AF.

^^^Yessir... that's the new thing that might have actually started with Star Wars Phantom Menace. Going "back to the beginning" showing how people became who they are.
I agree with you, that scenario would be right on time

I wish this movie spent more money on the visuals/special effects, instead of seemingly throwing it all into buying music rights for the soundtrack. Yeah, Gil Scott-Heron and Van Morrison are great, but this Movie often looked horrible. It didn't look like the Sopranos, and it didn't look like a movie. The aesthetics were distractingly bad. Alan Taylor was lost.
Although the themes and ideas were interesting and will have me thinking for a while, I can't help but feel like I didn't get enough screentime of a lot of the characters. Since the movie was about d**ky, not the show's ensemble, I think it would have benefited a lot from having just a few of them show up here, rather than the whole gang. That way, we could have gotten more of those few and of d**ky, instead of wasting time on Paulie and Big p***y and them. In other words, either make it a movie about d**ky, or make it a movie about the ensemble, but don't do this, where you try to do both, because then it undercuts both. Pick a side. However, to be fair, I heard that Chase got some pressure from the money men to make it more Sopranos than he really wanted.
Lastly, Gandolfini had a crazy amount of makeup and he looked weird, because of it. Like a robot. He was good, but the role was very small, and the makeup was very excessive.
