Mother!

Wasn't a fan.

Aaronovsky writing this thing in five days as some sort of meta inside joke about a writer's ego outweighing their skill/dedication (see: Bardim's character) probably seemed more clever on paper than the end result. None of the ideas in the movie seem very thought out or clear.

The film uses a dream-logic narrative, of which Aronofsky has noted, "if you try to unscrew it, it kind of falls apart," and that "it's a psychological freak-out. You shouldn't over-explain it."

Hiding behind "don't over think it" arguments comes off as a defense for halfass-ery.

This movie is one big glorified whim.

So the deal is this movie is based on the bible. The husband is 'god', the mother is 'mother earth' the visiting man and women are adam and eve, there sons are kane and abel. the wild party that breaks the water system and floods the house...is the flood. etc. it is , again, satanic propaganda against the Creator
