Classic Marciano here; I read that "On The Run" track could be a Stove God diss?

Surprised this thread isn't blowing up. Must be a lot of catholics on ughh. That said, this album was ok. Definitely needs more spins but these were my favorite tracks after first listen.

I only listened to the first few tracks, was busy with other stuff today including watching the NCAA tournament. Goyard God was very ill. I liked how the background vocals switched up on True Love combined with the drums. Will finish the rest at some point this weekend.

Nothing but quotes. Roc stepped it up on the mic for this album.
He pronounced the L in salmon. šš„
My artistic prowess, these are god given powers Cowards ain't wanna give me my flowers, it's childish Don't make me beat a b***h down on some Chris Brown s**t And spin the block on your town cause Iām well rounded Boy Iāll down you, somewhere crowded n***as down with you left dumbfounded Astounding, cop the Patek Phillipe and even drowned it Left the counter wet like a pound of salmon Itās real, it donāt just sound slick on the album Six for the trousers Iām just browsing Arouses eleven thousand Itās hard to stay grounded when you a falcon This the top the mountain Itās clouded, I donāt know what clout is I donāt count n***as chips like accountants I just know the crocodileās Italian

Damn itās been a minute since Iāve been here. Hope everyone is doing well out there.
With that said, this is the best Marci album since Marcielago. Spun it about 4 times so far and each time is better than the last.
Album sounds like a hazy, smoke filled fever dreamā¦and I mean that in the best possible way. So many interesting and layered samples. I feel like Marci really dug in the bag on this one. Not just in the production area either, but he definitely explored some flows heās never really used before (True Love, Floxxx, and Marciology especially).
The thing about Roc is that none of his projects ever sound the same. He always tries to push the envelope, but stay within his own creative space, and to me the music always sounds great. Mt Marci didnāt work as well imo because he stepped really far outā¦but on this one he reels it back in a bit more and put out a project that sounds wholly unique and cohesive without sacrificing what makes a Marci album.
Itās far and away the best project Iāve heard this yearā¦and probably the best of the last couple years. I think itās only going to get better over time too, and thatās the best compliment I could give the album in 2024 with most music being of the āone and doneā variety.
Best tracks: Floxxx (this joint is insane), Goyard God, Bebeās Kids, Killin Spree, LeFlair

Couldn't have said it better myself...the album gets better & better with each subsequent listen. After the first listen I was like: "Ok another solid Marci record" but the layers of the album continue to develop nicely. Mt. Marci was a bit out of his comfort zone, this one stayed in that zone with upgrades for sure, he & Alc also put together a top product but I prefer this one. Currently "Marciology" is very high on the list of his best albums, the man enjoys his creativity, the lyrics are really crazy As I said at the beginning I had some 'problems' to get into his music and style, but Roc is one of the more creative rappers out there, which he has proven with 11 released albums among which there are quite a few classics

The first song should have been half as long and maybe placed somewhere in the middle of the album as a skit. That sht is a challenge to listen to. Easily the most āexperimentalā song on the album.
He said āFk it. Thatās how imma set it off.ā Lol.

Been digesting this album. Roc is my favorite MC ever, but this album isn't quite hitting for me. He in an expert at picking obscure samples, but they don't always work. There are a few tracks I don't care for at all (Bad Juju, Went Diamond, Higher Self). They are either too slow or the sample is just sort of bland. The opening title track is a little spacey and weird, I don't hate it, but not something I would pick out to listen to.
There are some really interesting joints, LeFlair sounds like he is rapping over a Beatles song. I like the jazzy mood to Larry Bird. Floxxx is a wild beat, that sample is crazy with the hard guitar in the background and hi-hats.
I don't think I could go higher than 7.6/10 on this, and that might be slightly generous. Cool to listen to every once a while, but there aren't enough standout songs. Would have liked a banger or two, Goyard God is the closest, that is a beautiful beat by Animoss.
The rhymes are ill as usual, Roc is the king of braggadocious pimp rap. I'm twistin one up in a hot tub, but I'm not washed up. Slick lines that that are dope.

I kind of agree with most of what you wrote, but I see or hear more straight Marci 'bangers' and yeah the rhymes are really sick in every song "The Shipment was Bigger than Ricky Lake" What do you think about "Mt.Marci" album?

I listened to Grea8Gawd's latest album out of curiosity and because of the "Larry Bird" track
Dude is the next Stove Good Cooks or T.F, he's gonna drop an Ep with Roc soon

I did not like Mt. Marci at all really. Even more avant-garde beats than this one, samples were off the wall. There were a couple songs I liked, Pimps Don't Wear Rabbits comes to mind, but overall wasn't really feeling it. Very moody album. Probably give that one like a 5.9/10. I will say this album has grown on me a bit. One thing you can say about Roc is that he always raps over unique beats.

Some really valid points made in this thread.
I like the album. I think for me with Roc it comes down to the beats, love hearing him rap over a good beat.
Best beats for me:
Goyard God (Animoss!) Gold Crossbow Tapeworm (Animoss again) Killin' Spree (Crimeapple matches well with Roc) Higher Self (T.F. still reminds me of Left Lane Didon / Flee Lord doesn't ruin it) Floxxx (this beat is weird but works)
The ones that are too repetitive, have no beat or are borderline annoying for me:
True Love Bebe's Kids Bad Juju On the Run
Could take it or leave it:
Went Diamond LeFlair Larry Bird Marciology ,
So overall probably won't play it that much because only fully enjoy half the songs.
