yo ern i see you got the 2 early albums by koncept. i was a big fan of him for awaken. never heard the other one, but probably would tbh. he was dope til he sold out and became champagne konny on ig and literally starting rapping about only champagne and moved to korea to be a celebrity lol. i swear you couldn't write a goofier script for that fuhko but props to him for finding that type of success if that's what he was going for. i know he severed ties with brown bag all stars. audible doctor and j57 still holding it down. i give props to soul khan for coming out of the closet and still doing his thing on the battle circuit. dude has an awesome rap voice. just needs to drop a real album for the people. i remember Awaken getting praise when it came out. listened to it recently, it was aight.. i saw a cover of a champagne konny release looking like a fake drake I guess that explains it lol damn this cover reminds me of some goodnight moon where the wild things are s**t lol

AWOL is his second best album after Doe or Die.. cookin' soul's version of AWOL is better than the original, highly suggest the remix.. his other releases may have just a couple dope tracks on each one that's about it unfortunately..

Damn I miss J-Zone, a one of a kind artist. Saw him perform in Long Beach way back in the day with J-Ro and Tash, met him briefly after the show too. Man his beats were bananas. Awol One s**t I saw him perform back in the day too at Project Blowed. Him and LMNO were there. You taking me back with this post.

Haha, I love AWOL One! Did you really listen to all those albums by him though? I can see how that could be a bit much in a short go because he has a lot of material but the key to understanding him is checking his early crew, The Shape Shifters. Best way to describe them is Organized Confusion…not the group with the K but in that they like to mess with peoples heads with their styles and seemingly nonsense but they are mainly just having fun and when it comes down to it, lyrically on point.
I went to an art gallery opening back in the day where they played at and it was hilarious. They were drunk but killing it. I went mainly to see them but you could tell a lot of people there had no idea what was going on. At one point, the manager or whatever of the gallery was getting pissed and wanted them to stop but they kept going for a while. Meanwhile, I was just standing back loving it. One of the most memorable shows ever, lol!

oghh and AEOKQ what you guys think is awol's best albums? favorite tracks? As much as I like AWOL One, I’m not that particular about listening to his stuff. I just put on whatever and it is consistently good to me. If anything jumps out it’s like I mentioned earlier, his material with the Shapeshifters. Souldoubt is also one of his solo albums that i first think of if I am going to pick something specific. I remember listening to War Of Art the most out of the other ones you listed in your dump. Are you starting to get more into him?

Ahh, hafta look that up, been a while since I bumped Cookin... salute his (their) grind, but the beats all started to blend together for me, a bit dull at times And yoooo, Urban Wolves had heat if you look past the obvious Premier jackin

I just played first few tracks of war of art and I gotta tap out for now. all his tracks across albums blend in and dont stand out to me. not feeling the voice and the style. i'll try again down the road, i had no awol before this dump and now i have plenty material. i hated on myka 9 for years (mostly to give you s**t) before i took a closer listen and gave him any kind of credit haha. myka 9 blows awol away lol im on that east coast s**t you look down on can't help it lol

oghh and AEOKQ what you guys think is awol's best albums? favorite tracks? Honestly couldn't say, he was a rapper who I was familiar with back in the day, but never listened to his music. You posted that Mindstate album by Pete Philly and Perquisite on the first page. Damn that album cover looks so familiar, people used to talk about it on the old board. I have never heard it, you have inspired me to check it out. I guess they are from the Netherlands I just read now. The Red Carpet is a top 20 Alchemist beat ever, maybe top 10.

But like I said Awol has his lane and runs it pretty well. I agree and said from the start he has a lot of material that can probably get repetitive but the same can be said for maybe 90% of the artists out there. If you see him live or someday get what his deal is, maybe you'll at least appreciate it but all good if not. His stuff is definitely not what I would consider universal masterpieces that everyone has to acknowledge as greatness. I personally find him entertaining and talented when I listen to him and find his stuff a nice refreshing change from all the cookie cutter rappers out there but it's also not my goto, most coveted material. As for me looking down on east coast? That is simply not true and you couldn't really think that if you've seen my posts over the decades or whatever it's been since most of us have been on these forums. I simply put it down how I see it so it's all just my opinions based on facts and my own experience. Since I've spent a lot of time deep in the game, know a lot of the artists and seen the behind the scenes shenangins, those details also influence my opinions. I don't care what coast, country or whatever someone is from as long as they got skills, I give them props. And of course, like you say, there is a lot of s**t talking and just busting going on so yeah, we're all just here talking s**t about a culture we all seem to have love for.
