I think he is underrated.
He did a good job of imitating some of the greats on this one:

To be honest I've never listened to Reks, a random search on spotify thrown out his album and it's surprisingly good!

Yeah I like that album, haven't listened in ages, you have inspired me to dig it back out.
Grey Hairs was hyped up big time on the old board, I thought it was overrated like crazy. Say Goodnight is fire as hell, the rest was like ehhh. Premo has blessed REKS, that and 25th Hour are classic s**t.

Say goodnight may be a top 5 rap song for me literally. But cosign grey hairs being overrated.

it's an album I bought when it came out and really enjoyed and had in rotation for a good while
It's been years since I heard or thought about it, playing it now still holds up nicely. forgot how consistent the album is top to bottom. great album that takes me back to those times. from mass too. never thought of it as his best work, but come to think of it got to agree with cifus. pretty much a perfect album from him i'll give it like 9/10

Say goodnight may be a top 5 rap song for me literally. But cosign grey hairs being overrated. Yep. One of the reasons I get mad when people try and say alchemist and co are on primos level. He might more meh beats but a decade after his prime primo dropped a beat that s**ts on most producers full catalogue. Utterly flawless

Reks is interesting to me.
He’s incredibly nice.
Like Elzhi nice. Nicer than all the J-Coles, Drakes and Kendrick’s.
He’s also the last raw talent that DI Premier ever worked with.
After Reks, I feel like Preem fell off. He still made cool beats but it wasn’t moving the culture anymore.
In my opinion, Reks and Elzhi both failed the mission.
Both mastered the craft and did nothing with it.
Preem should have at least grabbed Reks and made a full album on some Gangstarr foundation sht. It was a layup

It was a layup The Premier "fall off" is a strange case, cause HE didnt really fall off at all talentwise - the public fell off and a new Premier drop didnt feel like an "event" no more Im a diehard student, mans the father to my whole style, so its still an event to me, but it takes more than my reception to tip the scales I gotta admit, the punch of his beats DID take a hit when he stopped goin to Eddie Sanchez for engineering, plus he mostly left the gated, stabby drums and instead went w more acoustic sounding ones... And yup, Reks is THAT NICE w it
