I've been trying to think of tracks where the rapper uses drastic voice switch ups to portray conversation between 2 or more people.
Came up with these:
Kendrick has heaps of different voices
Ghostface is good at it
Anyone got any examples?

Unless someone goes and quotes your post before you get that far lol you only get a 10 minute time window to edit after your last post/edit damn i have MMLP2 on CD and I like some of the songs, but don't recognize Love Game, it was an automatic skip I just knew lol. em is still a goat though (no clockworx) |

By the way I haven't listened to KP's solos in 7+ years. I have a good sense of what to expect and know I wouldn't like it. I listened to some of that Mushrooms track buck posted and it was weird.
KP bodied the Black Market Militia album, that is classic to me. Same with the Almighty- Original SIN album. Those were the last two records I heard him really kill it. His rhyme schemes are crazy.

1. Priest is my all time favorite MC. I haven’t liked his recent stuff at all, but I think he did enough in his prime to cement himself
2. U-God is nowhere close to Priest even on his best day.
3. The last great Priest stuff was probably Psychic World of Walter Reed, which is about 10 years old. Like AEOKQ said, he absolutely killed it on Black Market Militia and Almighty as well. He shined on those albums and really spit some of his best verses ever (the track Black Market comes to mind).
4. Recent Priest just does nothing for me personally. I understand dude is at a different place in his life, and I’ve listened in on some of his IG Live podcast things…dude is just an older guy who loves to sip tea and talk about spiritual journeys. I don’t even think he does drugs tbh…he’s just in a different place with his mindset. Everything from Rocket to Nebula and forward just doesn’t interest me at all, and that includes this album. This one actually might be the worst of the bunch because he’s talking about animals the whole time. I don’t like this style and that’s ok. I still love Priest as an MC.
5. He actually still has the capability to make great music. Check out this track from Summer End Cafe, which he dropped in 2021. This one is a banger to me…so he can still do it, he just chooses to go another path which is fine…artists should do whatever feels pertinent to their life at the time.

I don't really check for KP anymore but when I do, I always respect his work and what he's trying to do. Agree, some of it is a bit too out there and trying too hard but that's better than not trying at all, which is what I hear from a lot of MCs. |

Gotta step the troll game up brother! 😁 U-God used to be hated on super hard by pretty much every hip hop fan, but I always thought he was fine. Not lyrically astounding or anything but he held down the mic. I recall liking his first solo album, believe it was called Golden Arms Redemption. Haven't listened in probably 15 years though, s**t maybe longer. I would have to agree Killah Priest is leagues ahead though. |

U-God vs. KP I do not wish to compare. But if I had to.
If I heard this song:
I'd be sympathetic to a U-God vote.
But nah. On the basis of solo material and verses overall the Priest got the lead.

He had the more rock n’ roll inspired production and the last track with the story telling was dope. He left that track open like they’re would be a sequel, was excited to hear the continuation, which I don’t think ever happened, lol. Then he released Hillside Scramblaz and just completely sunk his rep. In his book he talks about not being as up on his pen game as other members. Said that being in jail and stuff I guess affected him. Apparently wasn’t keeping his blade sharp then. Came out struggling to get into the groove, whereas the other guys were progressing. So I think people’s appraisal is somewhat warranted, though I always liked his voice and style. |
