I know people were disappointed with 8 Diagrams, but Wu was doing amazing work in the mid 2000s, from No Said Date to Fischscale to Wu Meets Indie Culture to OB4CL2. They all seemed re-energized. Even though some tracks on the group album were god awful, the group's work in this era had special moments, including tracks off that album. New Wu, for example, is I think the last truly classic track the Wu made together.
Anyway, here's my version of 8 Diagrams:

Fishscale and more fish were great. I've been meaning to revisit that first indie joint.

I thought 8 Diagrams was decent. Got hated on pretty hard, but there were more than enough good songs to make it enjoyable.
The Wu killed the 00's, many good albums. I've been on record saying Wu vs. Indie Culture is a classic, Bronze murdered the production on there and all the guests added a unique flavor to the album. Preservation also came through with some cool beats, RZA did too on his DOOM collab.
Masta Killa had two solid albums, No Said Date being the better one. GZA- Pro Tools was good. Ghostface has always made good music, More Fish is a personal fav. If you include the affiliates, Wu has been putting in heavy work the last two decades. Trife da God- Better Late Than Never from 2009 is slept on. Timbo King and 60 Second Assassin both released good albums - early 2010s a bit later than the time period we are discussing.
Good job including School on that mix, one of the craziest beat switches ever. RZA really murdered that beat, both production and lyric wise. Iron God Chamber also thumps - another ill RZA verse. He's a damn good MC.

Presidential MC from Meth's 4:21 album is a great Wu track that doesn't get enough attention, since the rest of the album was inconsistent. Too bad it wasn't on 8 Diagrams or OB4CL2.

I wonder why Watch Your Mouth didn't make the album, despite being the leading single that got everyone excited.

BS secret album aside, the Cilvaringz I album was tight. Razah and Priest put out good sh1t in the mid oughts also.
And G-d bless Dom Pachino for his efforts, tight rapper but the poor guy dropped like 10 throwaway albums that decade.

I bought that wu indie culture on cd when it came out, walked back to the store to return it, stop with the revisionist history

The ras kass/gza joint on that album was dope, don't front. The rest was hit and miss, whatever.
But I think that was the first album we got a really good showcase of bronze's skill with the beats.

He had a couple beats on birth of a prince, but he was pretty secondary to rza there.

Campfire, Windmill, and Rushing Elephants are probably my fav tracks off 8 Diagrams. Some of RZA's beats were too cinematic on the album, but Windmill had that cinematic sound in a dope way.

One of Ghostface’s best tracks ever that no one talks about…produced by Just Blaze of all people, wayy better than most RZA 2000’s production

That Blaze beat was hype, and Ghost met its energy. Very nice.

Revisiting some of the 8 Diagrams tracks I haven't listened to in a long time, and some of them are so cringe, damn.

I think Big Doe is Ghost's most consistent album from that very busy decade. It's so good. Meanwhile, Fishscale was his most diverse album. And in a way that for the most part worked, but there are some tracks I don't f**k with on it. Will never get over the phone ringing in the background of RZA's intro on 9 Milli Bros. Awful, haha. How do you not catch that and fix it?

That doom beat for alex stolen script is hype. Real shame they couldn't get the sample clearance for charlie brown, that's a great ghostdoom track, sampling caetano veloso:

Sound of the Slums is a great Inspectah Deck/Masta Killa track from a Deck album that basically doesn't exist, it's unfortunately not on Spotify:
Should have been on Masta Killa's Made in Brooklyn album instead of a throwaway Deck one.

Yeah I don't think they ever seriously fell off, except for most of Cappadonna's career and A Better Tomorrow.
