a few of these i want to revisit before the end of the year but i'm sure this will end up being 90% accurate unless a bunch of unannounced albums drop in the next couple weeks. overall maybe not the best year for hip hop in recent memory but still definitely one that stands out with a few specific things that set it apart for me. huge year for wrecking crew and bruiser brigade. defcee released 4 dope albums/eps and is finally getting some much deserved recognition especially since linking up with backwoodz and putting out the album with messiah musik... also navy blue produced 4 or 5 albums and is becoming one of my favorite producers right now. i'm hoping there will be at least one more great album released by the end of this year though that could make the top 10, was hoping it'd be earl but it looks like that isn't dropping until january.

I really don't listen to enough new hip hop to meaningfully contribute. I will say I liked the Rome Streetz/Futurewave album, I must have listened to Sage & Gunsmoke 50 times already, the Ransom verse is killer and the beat is retarded. There were two Bronze Nazareth albums I liked a fair amount, one with Leaf Dog and another with Recognize Ali. Hus Kingpin- Portishus was dope. The Rome Streetz/Ransom album was cool, I just listened to the new Ty Farris, liked it a lot on the first listen but listened today and it wasn't as good. Oh that Evidence album was dope. I dunno I think that is it, hopefully people list some dope s**t I can check out.

Mach's Pray For Haiti is probably my pick for album of the year. Getting back with Westside was a big moment and they always made heat together before they started beefing, which was really just Benny talking s**t. Outside of what's already been mentioned, I would add...
Isaiah Rashad - The House is Burning Westside Gunn - Hitler Wears Hermes 8: Side A/B Your Old Droog - Space Bar Lloyd Banks - Course of the Inevitable J. Cole - The Off Season

I just don't think people realize even pac or biggie or pun or whoever legend the status of nas or jay would suck in 2021. Who wants to hear a 50 yr old nas? That said nas hangs out with bums and jay is a griselda and mach hommy fan. Jay wins again

The Mach Hommy album was cool, just not nuch replay value except a few songs imo. The Bronze Nazareth/Roc Marciano album was the most disappointing album all year, Roc did not bring his best beats at all. The DJ Muggs/Rome Steetz album was also lackluster. Lots of subpar albums nowdays imo. Maybe I'm just getting old, but there is way too much oversaturation.
I listened to some of that Bo Jackson today and it was sounding pretty good. Some of the better Alchemist beats I've heard in a while, and Boldy James is good for a dope bar or two.

honestly i think i got dad brain to. first off, these years blur together like a mf'r. secondly, i don't get releases as quick and as often as i used to and when i do these guys don't end up dropping the physical product til the next year (see kings disease II) so which year do i count it in?
point i'm gettin at is its hard for me to make this list because i can't keep track of what dropped this year, i guess i'll try and do my best to inventory what cds, tapes and lp's i got this year that weren't originally released digitally last year and then look at my bandcamp collection for any other releases that i got on there that i have yet to recieve or purchase a physical copy of yet this year....

Boldy is talented enough but alch needs to work with better artists. On track 3 Hot Water Tank is feat this dude ICECOLDBISHOP; he could be the new rising star like Boldy or Stove...

Peeped "Garbagology" the tracks Difficult and Wolf Piss are my favorite joints off the album. It was decent overall. But that dragging out words wen u say them thing aes did on this album is dated as f**k. Joe budden used to do that sometimes like 15 yrs ago.

So Haram was not for me. The beats on ther own woulda been a trip and a half, really drugged out. That said the lyrics were too drugged out, too much random thought mumbly rap. Not for me at all. I remember liking some early armand hammer stuff to. This was almost unlistenable for me. Even high this might have been a chore.

Trapdoor from Messiah Muzik and Defcee was ok. Not gonna lie the beats were underwhelming and kinda boring.
Favorite Tracks:
5. The Definition of Insanity ft. Curly Castro 6.Snares 15. Post

This was the first AH album I listened to front to back and thought the same thing. Production was perfect but I couldn't get with whatever the f**k they were rapping about. The only track I ended up going back to was the one with Earl.

Its the underground version of mumble rap. All these mother f**kers are just on heavy drugs and it sounds like it in a bad way. Remember eminem? That dude could at least hold it, these guys sound f**king retarded.
