the brutal honesty of this album is barely ever seen in rap music, ever really. i remember hearing that skit at the early part of this album upon first listen and thinking i was gonna smash this cd but im glad i stuck with it. he has a right to be a little c**ky cuz he stands out in a world of white guys trying to be black. this dude shouldnt sound as dope as he does and its so natural. i liked this one so much more than rap album one. cassette 3 is the closest to being this good but if he retired after this album he did his career justice. between "these words are everything" and "Afraid of us" and "blue green" i dont think too many rappers have admitted ther failures and insecurities like that. def a top 5 album of 2017, actually finished # 4 for me that yr.

I mean, its obvious he can spit, has a dope voice and content but *surprise* the beats were just zzz to me... I guess my expectations were just on some other sh*t after hearing/watching that first single drop

Yeah I mess with this album. Haven't given it a spin in a bit but this alvum was the first time I've given him a listen and was impressed. Definitely had an effortless excellence to it that I appreciated. Content was varied and interesting. This is a really good album.

i haven't gone back to this too many times since 2017, but that's because i played the f**k out of it that year. i typed so many essays in the thread discussing this album when it came out, lol. that three track stretch with zeroh and low leaf going from afraid of us, to blue green, and then hills is perfect. dude's been relatively quiet this year and stopped doing the jonmakesbeats series on twitch.tv, i hope he's doing alright.
i remember putiton doing a complete 180, going from calling it pretentious to saying it was album of the year. that s**t was funny lol.
